I often wondered what was the point

We had worked so hard for such little reward

The goal that seemed within our reach

Slowly slipped further away

I remember once we had a house

With no food

No furniture

No belongings

But still we had each other

And together we were strong

That cold winters night

We lay on the bare floor

With only a railways coat for a blanket

I never told you i loved you

Instead silently holding you throughout the night

Then when the dawn came

I watched you open your eyes

You turned to me and smiled

They are evil indeed

Spreading hate with such ease

It is not any wonder there are times like these

But still my darling you spoke wise

Taking my hand to your breast you whispered

I am still alive no matter what I am still alive:
